PewDiePie Has Declared No More Nazi Jokes

Now That He Learned Nazis Exist

After loosing his partnership with Disney, Youtube Red, and has had countless viewers questioning his personal beliefs it seems that the violence in Charlottesville has finally broken through. And if you're unaware of PewDiePie and why someone would go this far to make a simple joke, well that's PewDiePie. He doesn't do what he does for money anymore since he is one of the highest paid Youtubers, but instead he does this because he loves getting a reaction from his viewer, good or bad.

He even states in the video above, "I don't think anyone who watches me thinks I'm an actual Nazi," and goes on to explain himself and his stance. He even tweeted a pic of the tiki torch mob, saying "These guys clearly watched one too many pewdiepie vids" which he later admitted was a joke at his own expense. But after seeing the true nature and violence these people harbor, he made it clear that he is completely dissociating himself from this group.

It has come to such a degree that people are starting to question whether he was at the rally, pointing him out in crowds such as the image above. Obviously this isn't him, but he's not the only Youtube star that has been thought to be at the rally, as several have been compared to rally photos.

And although Pewdiepie's reaction might be one of the more odd and note worthy, the violence in Charlottesville has opened the eyes of many. For most of our generation, Nazis are simply comically evil people on TV, movies, and comic books, but seeing them in this day and age has left many shocked. In nearly every picture of the riots you'll note how frightening their anger is and just how violent their actions can escalate to.

In a way it's sad that Pewdiepie sees the need to no longer make Nazi jokes, because that's what such an amount of hate should be, a joke. Unfortunately all those who have been living under a shroud of blissful ignorance were introduced to reality. Hate exists, and for every person who sees it as a joke, there's another who embraces it. I wish we could go back to making jokes, but I respect Pewdiepie's decisions, even if he followed it up with "Nazi memes aren't even that funny anymore."

What do you think? Should he continue ignoring political correctness in the name of humor, or have recent actions deemed this necessary?
