Do You Have to Pre-Order to Play The COD: WWII Beta?

Spoiler Alert: No, No You Don't

Lets get the first myth out of the way, you won't need to pre-order the game to experience the beta. I'm sure you're asking where I heard this, and honestly I don't have a source, but I've seen this before time and time again. I'm writing this article because, like an alzheimer's patient, whenever a new game releases their beta we forget about past experiences. We don't need to go very far into the past either since the Destiny 2 beta just showed us that those who pre-ordered only got an extra day or two to play. But this has always been the case, and when you look at it from a technical and marketing perspective it becomes obvious. 

First, lets look at how they're marketing for this beta. The way they phrase their advertisement is that we must pre-order to gain access to the 'private' beta, which is good word play but also good legalize. By this I mean, they can state that pre-ordering will give you access to the 'private' beta, but what about the public beta? Unless you can't wait a week or so, I'm sure we'll see a public beta as well, and the reason I think this falls within the technical perspective of this beta.

Their blog states that this is, "... a critical test of our core gameplay, our game systems, as well as a stress test of our online infrastructure at scale." The key word being 'scale' which is cut down to a quarter of what they would expect from a public beta. I would assume that the 'private' beta is simply an entry level test, while a public beta would be the real test.

So don't make the same mistake many have made in the past. Be wise with your money, and wait for the public beta to see whether you want the game or not, unless you stream and want to be showing your viewers the game on day one. If that's the case, here's what you can expect from the beta :
